Jo Confino of the Guardian and Simon Henzell Webb talk about their interactive websites their are launching and a host of other reasons why traditional reporting has had its day.

Body Shop doing the same thing as companies are forced to engage properly with the debate – and dealing with the static nature of the reports

Challenges are it becoming too glib, looking like greenwash etc

Post from Toby Webb – ‘In no other sector would you present the same information to so many different groups.’

Post from Mallen Baker – ‘Remind me why you produce a report again?’

UPDATE - Guardian Report is now out and doesn’t really deviate too much into sharing. But, there is lots of scope for feedback and the content is well linked up (as you might expect…http://www.guardian.co.uk/sustainability)

The Body Shop have produced a number of shareable films / social objects for their latest Report. These are very good- -and cant be sent straight to twitter etc. The next step would be to make them embeddable – maybe give people a widget for their site that updates when new stuff is out there?

Either way, their approach is a step forward for sustainability reporting.

Will social media mean that the CR Report will be a GRI focused exercise and end up resembling a financial statement?

Just Means blog post on the subject

Some of the best reporters are those working in the developing world in resource extraction / manufacturing – do they need to to move over the social media to engage will communities

Or do they need to think about other ways of delivering their Cr reporting news – eg ICT sending out the info by text?

Once housekeeping becomes standardized ie everyone is doing it -case studies may become less imporant and wider issue area engament will become the central part of the CR strategy.

This is a good HBR piece on social data:As these consumer expectations shift, companies that want to stay relevant have no choice but to accept the ideas of the consumer revolution as swiftly as possible. For users, switching costs are cheap — firms can no longer think of “customer relationship management” as providing stickiness for the customer (just like fly paper provides stickiness to the fly).
